Got to chase Woodcock a couple days. First hunt was solo. Just Cricket and me.

Thanks Bill. They are a fun bird. In the cover I hunt them in, you have to trust the dog to handle the birds out of your sight. A staunch dog is a must while you work your way to the point. A dog that is taught to flush on command is an asset. You can position yourself where you have a crease in the cover, then "hup" the dog to put the bird up. The cover they call home, combined with their acrobatic flight, will challenge your skill with a shotgun.

Lol you have to develop a relaxed attitude about woodcock shooting. Just about the time you think you are pretty good at hitting them you have one of those days where every bird has you shooting holes in the sky. smile
