Looking at getting new trucks. GMC has some pretty good incentives and gave me a great offer on my trade.
My question is should I go with the 6.2L EcoTec3 or just stay with the 5.3L EcoTec3? is the 6.2 worth the extra money? Thank for any input.

420 hp and 21mpg, I'd say it's worth it.

Absolutely worth it, and resale it MUCH better with the 6.2 vs the 5.3.

I agree! 6.2 all the way!
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

looks like 6.2 for the win. I was between the GMC or the Ford with the Ecoboost… ford just wanted too much money

Based on my very negative experience with the 5.3, the 6.2....absolutely.

6.2l gets better fuel economy in the hills and towing. Get it and don't look back.

When it comes to trucks, I'm a big fan of getting the largest engine you can in whatever platform you choose. I'd get the 6.2.

I'd go 6.2 in the GM.
Last I looked the 6.2 was a pretty good option cost, I would have figured you could have gotten a comparable 3.5 ecoboost for less.

I'm running a 6.2 and even with all the tools/gear I carry it out runs the 5.3.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

A 5.3 was made for go-carts... single riders ones at that.

Aside from my 6.2 "blowing up" and being replaced at about 10k miles I love it.

Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

My wife wanted a Tahoe, she rented one on a business trip for a week and decided that it was too slow, and that the 5.3 wasn’t going to cut it. The 6.2 wasn’t an option on the trim level she wanted. She bought an Armada, that motor will roll out in that 6000 pound pig.

Don't go with the 5.3, terrible fuel mileage, and definitely lacking in the power. My old 4.7 dodge was ten times the motor the 5.3 is.

Sounds like the 5.3 is the modern day 305, that old engine was a turd as well.

Ive never driven a more miserable truck than a 4.7 dodge. That's interesting, my 5.3 is a joke. I've never had problems with the engines on either one per se, except my gm now has the tick you hear on all of them. Both trucks ran 20"wheels and the that 4.7 got better mileage with my 21'bass boat hooked up than the GM empty on the highway, and that's no lie.

We used to occasionally pull my Ranger bass boat with my grandad's Dodge 4.7. Most gutless engine I've ever seen. It would shift all the way down to second gear to pull hills. My 5.3 pulled just fine.

Sounds like the 5.3 is the modern day 305, that old engine was a turd as well. I wouldn’t go that far. The 5.3 is a dam good engine and can easily see 200k miles with basic maintenance. It produces good power for its size. The problem is the transmission bolted to it. I drove a 5.3 backed by a 4L60E and it pulled like a tank in every gear, fast forward 15 years and it’s now an 8-speed with more power and it just feels gutless.

Nothing new and its not going away anytime soon. What do they call it, torque management? It is a safety feature manufacturers use to protect the transmission. I read somewhere where the heavy duty trucks, or at least I think ram diesels are governed on power output until 3rd or 4th gear etc.
