Never been a huge fan, always burnt the hell out of my mouth when eating them. Never made from scratch and store bought ones suck. I've had the KFC one that wasn't half bad. I don't eat wheat (flour) anymore so if I wanted one I'd have to make it myself and I don't really see gluten free crust holding up well with this type of filling.

I love em and I make them, but the best ever was a surprise from next door neighbor in Point Blank.

Easy to make. Use baby onions, potatoes, and carrots to make a chicken stew. Season it and thicken it with corn starch. Pour it in a baking dish. Make a pie crust using lard and lay it on top. Put it in oven until crust browns and stew bubbles.

Funny old story. My wife and I were short on cash like a lot of folks when we first got married. We were at Piggly Wiggly one night to pickup chicken pot pies for dinner and bought the cheapo store brand $.29/each ones, but can both remember staring at the Marie Callendars and saying = dang those look good, wish we could afford them.
Ate the cheap ones all the time growing up, bought them for the kids one time and they were not impressed. My wife makes a homemade one out of her homemade leftover chicken soup that beats the snot out of anything you get at the store.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

Costco makes a dang good one that will feed 4-6 hungry guys. Nice change of pace out at deer camp.

My daughter has a recipe from the "pioneer woman" on food network that is really good. It has the recipe for the crust and the pie fixins.

I made a double crusted chicken pot pie for supper tonight. Then I ate too much. Shame on me.

My mother in law isn't a masterfull cook. For the first several years my wife and I were married I cooked the thanksgiving turkey etc. for the family Christmas. But she does have a few dishes that I really enjoy. Her chicken pot pie is one of them and no matter what I do I cant make it as good as hers.
It's hell eatin em live
