I have been checking reviews online and it seems like a lot of people swear by them, however some bad experiences too but mostly good. Im thinking of getting one for a cva 20ga slug gun I've had for 4 years and still haven't shot. Swift has a 2-7x40 for $200 that seems perfect for a slug gun but I'm just worried about losing zero with a "cheap" scope. There are some great reviews on midwayusa though. Any opinions here on them?

Own one. It's on a 243. Absolutely no complaints. Been very reliable and good glass for the money.

Have had several. Glass is nice for the price. As long as you are a set and forget guy (no knob twisting) I think it should serve you well. If it is the premier, it has a lifetime warranty.

I've had one on my 6PPC for several years and have taken it on several hunts out of state and have never had a single issue with it. I bought mine from a company called EABCO and they were still selling them a year or so ago. Might want to check their prices out along with the other places you shop for scopes.

If you are putting a scope on a slug gun get one that is a known quantity and capable of managing the recoil. For a budget of $200 you can get a Leupold VX1 3-9x40 or one of Leupold's slug specific 2-7 or 3-9 options.

I have 2 of the VX1 scopes, 1 on a 20ga slug gun and 1 on a .50 cal muzzleloader. I shoot them every year and have near had an issue with them.

duckhunter175 from the reviews I've read the weaver should be fine. That is my main concern with the cheaper scopes. I don't mind lesser clarity if it holds zero. The fixed power scopes seem to do that well. I'll let yal know once I get it to the range.
