would you pick? HUNTING scope out to 800ish. MOA, either focal plane, prefer 2nd.
NO vortex , suggestions ok, just pick one as if these were the only scopes ever made. under $1K. budget
i realize 99% of you no nothing of these but thought id throw it out there.
1. Athalon Aeres ETR, 4.4-30 2. Nightforce SHV 5-20 3. Leupold 3xi 8.5-25 4. Bushnell Forge 4.5-27 5. Nikon F-1000, 6-24

The SHV is superior to the other scopes on your list.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

Not to sound the broken record, but NF leaps out as the class of the field. That said, do you really feel compelled to shoot at game all of the ways out to 800 yards? I find hunting is much more interesting than shooting but to each his own.

2 3 1 In that order. 4 and 5 would be for sale I’d never even mount them on a rifle.
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

NF is #1 by a good margin
Athlon Ares gets really good reviews. I've not seen one in person, but the scopes I've heard it compared to would make it easily #2 on the list.

Buzz.....one scope you might consider adding to the list is the new Horus Scope. Nightforce bought Horus a few years back. At Shot Show they had their new scopes on display. They are equal to the SHV line of nightforce and comparable in price. If memeory arrives me correctly (but don’t quote me on this) where they differ is they are first focal plane and you can get the Tremor and H59 reticle on the Horus scopes but not in the SHV from nightforce. Only SHV that is FFP is the 4-14x50. Definitely worth a look when they come out, especially if you have a certain reticle preference.

And Tremor and H-59 might give him a stroke. His brain cannot handle those reticles.

Oh, yes, just give me a duplex in a GREAT scope with an Erector from He77, an accurate ballistic chart, i'll be fine MOA please
