Anyone planning to hunt this last week/weekend? We are keeping an eye on the weather for Menard. Need to fill out another doe tag or 2 and hope my son can get the big 6 we saw the last time we hunted. Still trying to get his first deer. Buck came in and he got a little excited and spooked it. Hope he gets another opportunity at it.

My 12 year-old and 14 year-old are sad to see season gone. They sat daylight til dark in the stand yesterday in their climbers on what was likely their last hunt of the year.

Fortunately, it's not over for us since we are MLD III. But yes, we are hunting this weekend, wind, moon, whatever.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Got the black powder rifle ready to go. Will spend Saturday and Sunday in the woods as 1 last hoorah to tag my buck. Going to be COLD up here by the Red River!!

Well, we changed our minds and are not going to the ranch this weekend. Forgot that it was the last weekend of the general season. I'm not spending 8-9 hours driving from the ranch to Houston. It typically takes 5 hours (6 with a few stops). Anyone who's ever made that drive on 35 N and then 1-10 E from San Antonio to Houston knows what I'm talking about. Last Sunday of the season and those two highways will be choked with all the guys hauling their stuff back from the lease. Been there, done that. Once. Never again. Good luck to all who are going this weekend. Stay safe and take your time coming home Sunday afternoon.

Too windy today. Believe I will head out early in the morning. Need to fill feeders and set them way back, may as well work one last hunt in while I am at it. Maybe I can manage one more doe.
