Check cameras and found these two hitting feeders. Guessing velvet buck possibly around 32" and hard horned around 28-29". Thoughts?

Axis are tough to judge on the hoof, IMO, but I'd say the one in velvet is probably every bit of 32 and maybe bigger. I think the hard antlered deer may not be as big as 28-29. But neither of your guesses are more than 2" or so off.

Awesome deer. I'd guess your spot on with the velvet buck. I would call the hard antler one 26-27 but I have a hard time judging them on the hoof as well.

How far are you from the Pecos? Looks like the country west of Ozona and I’m always curious to see how far axis are spreading.

We're right off I-10 and the Pecos River just North of Sheffield.

I'd say they are both shooters.

Absolutely. Remember, Axis are always singing that old Seals and Crofts song - "We May Never Pass This Way Again". rifle

both are in the 30-33 inch class.

Field judge- look at the distance from the caudel to the tip and this is usually half the length or about 15 inches on these so double that to 30+/-.
