We had our friends from Georgia at the ranch for the 15th year in a row. Saw lots of good deer, shot a few, and had a great time as always. The first morning my buddy shot a big boar with good cutters. Anyone care to guess the weight?

I spent most of my hunting time trying to help my year 7 old take his first doe. He connected with a 300 blackout, but we never recovered her. I saw the hit and it wasn’t too far off. I expected to find her within 50 yards but we never recovered her. Tough one to swallow for the little guy and me. When I wasn’t trying to put Bubba on a deer, I was scouting for mature management deer for our guests. I managed to find a few, but they never showed for the hunters. So it goes...

I’m probably done chasing whitetail for the year, but we are leaving behind a pretty good crop of up-and-comers. Here are a few of them.

Nice pics. I am horrible at guessing weights on animals but I will guess 200 lbs.

There may be a 6.5 year old in the mix, but I think they're all either 4.5 or 5.5.

Yal ever send teeth off to have deer aged? The cementum annuli process or whatever its called? Sending our first ones off this year. Ive been debating his age for 4 years now weather he was 1 or 2 the first year we saw him, ill be happy either way it turns out, but the findings will influence my opinion of the age of many other bucks we have been watching for a few years.

I'd loose money betting on the ages of those deer.

Hog looks about 185 but cutters are pretty good for his size.

He looks about the size of the last one I shot, 177 pounds
Or maybe a little smaller

Or could be a bit bigger

No, but over the years our on the hoof guesses have been pretty consistent with our taxi's teeth aging (which I understand isn't perfect). We have history with some of those deer too. Even if one or more of them is 6.5, we are willing to take the chance that they could see improvement if we have a wet spring. I let a 150-155 inch 10 point go a couple years ago that was arguably 6.5. He was a very nice deer, but I just wasn't that anxious to put another set of horns on the wall. The next year something crazy happened and his frame went down some, but he grew nearly 30 inches in extras. He got a bullet that year.
