A bowie is not a piece of jewelry made into the shape of a knife.

13" oal
8" x 7/32 O1 Tool Steel blade - low angle bevel (~ 1/2 the angle of other knives)
Barbwire Micarta Handle
Stainless Corby Bolts and Flared tube mechanical connections

Wytex, I bought one of his SERE knives, and it is absolutely the best edged tool I've ever bought! Take it off your wish list and tell Jeff you want him to make you one!

There is a place for all knives. All of them have advantages and dis advantages. Having established and set up cutting contest for over 20 years I have learned to not judge one by its looks but by its performance first. Being pretty or ugly has nothing to do with how it cuts.

I have always thought of "cutting competitions" as jokes compared to real people doing real things, often in unforgiving places and environments. Again, a piece of jewelry made into the shape of a knife is something other than a knife. In some circles, apparently not yours, people have an aversion to pieces of jewelry made into the shape of a knife.

It's all good until someone tries to pass off jewelry as a tool.

As to the current cutting contest. I agree with you personally. However it does display that the maker of the knife does display some skills as to knowing how to make a knife cut. As to their current style they cut with...not my cup of tea and it's not anything I care for, personally.
.
BUT , I will repeat what I said. There is a place for all knives. Being ugly or pretty does not make it cut better. Just depends upon what the client wants and what he has confidence in. To smack one or the other is just peeing in the wind.

Jeff made me a Runt this fall and I put it to good use, my bull elk and mule deer.
Contemplating hard on if I should . A Texas made Bowie is at the very top of that list.

The Runt is a workhorse in a small package - glad you put it through its paces. Thank you again.
