I'm looking for a hunting lease on a property within a reasonable drive of south Austin that has a good rabbit (jack or cottontail) and/or squirrel population. I fly a red-tail hawk for falconry, and unfortunately this year there are very few rabbits on my hunting lease. This would be strictly for falconry and no other type of hunting. Please PM me if you have or know of anything available.

Max, might try a public hunting spot in SM on Skull Rd. Not sure if it is still open this year as I have left the area but last year I jumped many rabbits while dove hunting the hunting area. Also big open fields that I would imagine be prime for you. Just have to get the APH permit

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to check the regs, apparently a lot of public places that are designated for dove hunting are strictly for dove, i.e. hunting other small game (whether with a gun or with a bird of prey) would be unauthorized. I'll see what the story is for this place, as I've never been to it.
