I just started hunting with a lab again last month after a 10 year drought. What I am doing now and then. I carry a full first aid kit in the Jeep, I have the number for the closest vet facility. Now I carry a field kit for emergency. It consists of emergency blanket, q-tips latex gloves, small flashlight, lighter, matches, wound seal, alcohol swabs, duck tap, povidone-iodine swabs, honey packets, lock blade knife, bandaids, hand sanitizer, tweezers, finger nail clippers, electrical tape, triple antibiotic, super glue, eye wash, rubber bands and 2 9x5 surgical dressings.

A cone is always a good thing to carry to keep the dog from messing with a wound.

Im just gonna add a few more items to truckman66's list that I carry for the dog. An assortment of various gauze pads and a roll of gauze. Stapler. Leatherman. A couple dog boots.

stapler -- surgical disinfectant --muzzle cord bandages,
At camp we have antivenin, antihistamine, flagel antibiotics.Rimadyl.
