Last Tuesday around 7pm a friend of mine sent me a video of a few thousand geese feeding in a field he had gained access to. He said "can you be here by 6:30am tomorrow morning?"
I grabbed the layout and pup and heeded out around 3:30am with some pretty high expectations.
We watched Canadas, specks, snows, pintails and mallards in huge groups fly over from 7am till noon. They came over in wave after wave and they went and landed in a lake we had no access to.
It was torture!
Only had one or two groups even give us a look. We decided to move the trucks a bit further away and while we were at the trucks one single landed in the decoys and was shot by the guy that stayed.
Thats the way it goes sometimes I guess.
I was pretty proud of Kimber. She sat quietly and patiently for 5 hours watching birds fly over. It was good experience for her even if we didn't hammer them. Don't get me wrong though I sure wish we would have.
