My brother and I were hunting in the same blind at my uncle’s place in Duval county. Doe came out early in the morning. It was broadside and my brother dropped it right there with a neck shot. About 15 minutes later I tapped my brother’s leg and told him a buck was coming from out of the brush on the same trail the doe had come from. The buck had no interest in the corn since they were still rutting. He went up to the doe and started smelling her tail end. At this point he is facing away from us. Well, since the doe wasn’t saying “no”, he turns broadside and straddles her preparing to do the big nasty! But before he starts going into motion, my brother dropped him with a neck shot as well. Needless to say, it will be a story told for many years at the ranch. We had no idea that the doe would end up being a doe-in-heat decoy!

I shot a turkey and had another nearby turkey walk up to the dead one and mount it instead of running away. It was a long time ago so not the best camera when I filmed it.

Hunting around Ozona we were allowed a buck and a doe on that lease .Had already shot my buck ,doe comes over a hill with a buck about 300 yards behind her I drop the doe and the buck comes up and starts trying to gore her then tries to lift her up with his antlers this lasted for a good 3 to 4 minutes . My hunting buddy shot the same buck the next morning easy to recognize dried blood all over his antlers

Many years ago, when I hunted near Big Lake, I saw that happen several times during the rut. In fact, once I saw a monster buck trailing a doe a long way off, she turned and headed out on to the field that I was watching. I shot her in the middle of the field and the big buck just kept coming right up to the edge of the field. He walked up and down the brush line at the edge of the field and then I guess he could not stand it any long and walked out to the middle of the field to stand over her. He is on my wall right now and I will always remember that hunt.

I've seen it happen more than once. Had a very wise rancher tell me a long time ago that if a buck was hot after a doe, shoot the doe in the neck and drop her right there. It won't be long before you can kill that buck. I've also seen rutted up bucks attack a buck that has been shot and is laying dead on the ground.

The best was on a friends ranch where I was helping cull does and doe fawns. I killed the doe and then the fawn with head shots. I guess that doe fawn was in heat because a nice two-year old buck came out onto the sendero, sniffed that doe and went absolutely nuts over her for about 15 mins until he was out of breath. He finally gave up and bedded down next to the doe fawn. roflmao

Yes I have seen it several times and have two bucks on old VHS trying to breed the dead doe. Seen bucks attack a dead buck also and got photos of it this year.

I've shot hot does and had the buck stick around. I shot a doe one morning that was by herself and in the next 90 minutes had eight different bucks come by and check her out. No mounting, though!

It happened pretty quick and it never entered my mind to try to video it with my cell phone. It probably would have been poor quality but at least it would have been something!

My nephew was able to shoot the bigger of two fighting bucks when they took a break to face off. The second one just saw this as an opening to get some payback, he kept at it for quite awhile.
