That's a nice reticle. The .2 MIL hashes make for some precise wind holds. I figured it would make it's way to the Gen 2 Razor since it's already in the AMG.

Vortex has always had some nice reticles. Too bad they're attached to a scope you can't completely trust.

14 hours from home, 9000' ASL, walked a few miles up a mountain. Vortex breaks. Do you care right then about their warranty?

I don’t travel all that much. So I’ll just have to see if it’ll fit my needs. And I have an AMG so I have a backup. Surely they won’t both crap out on me.

I seriously didn’t think they’re not considered reliable though. I’ll have to look into this.

My Gen 1 razor held up to all I put it through. Which wasn’t a lot other than hunting and range use.

People typically don’t agree with me.... but I agree with this statement.

I'm probably harder on gear than 90% of people. It is not intentional, they just get worked hard. Range, matches, and hunting, they get banged around a bit. I gotta have tough, so that's why I won't buy Vortex rifle scopes. For those people that treat them like they're made of crystal they're probably fine. Though, there have been some turret failure stories even for those type people.

I am by no means easy on equipment. I have 2 vortex optics and will buy more. Very happy with them.

People tend to lump all the Vortex scopes together. I can assure you, their Phillipino scopes should not ever be compared to the Japanese-made Razors, in quality or reliability. Don't be surprised if your favorite scope, that is the most reliable piecece of optical precision ever made, is made in the same plant as the Razor.

The Vortex failure stories are too numerous to ignore. I have my own.

The Razor line does not seem to carry that same reputation. It’s the only Vortex I would consider, at this point. Lowering the price that much sure makes it tempting.

And have you ever seen any other brands go down ? You see way more scopes used than I do.

Turrets quit tracking, fail to return to zero, reticle shift. Don't know how many over the years, and matches maybe 10. Viper PST problems, same as previously listed. Also, I've had a Viper PST get dust inside it, and had a Gen I Razor 85mm spotting scope get dust in it.

One $200 Bushnell fixed 10X had turrets that didn't answer commands. I had a Busnell ERS hang up at 1.0 mil elevation. I could muscle past it, but didn't feel good about it, and swapped scopes mid match. Bushnell said it just had debris in it, and needing cleaning. It passed their tracking test, and they sent it back. Nothing much else comes to mind.

SS 5-20X going on 7 years, no trouble in spite of thousands of rounds.

Only one year with a Burris XTR II, with lots of bumps and bruises, no trouble.

NF ATACR 5-25X F-1 is nearing two years. Handling, bumps on barricades, fallen over on line stone, many movements of controls. No trouble.

Man, you messed around and bought the best 3 models of scopes ever created. It's amazing that the $900 Burris are better quality than the $2200 Gen 2 Razors. rolleyes

You're too late bro. I just sold both of my kidneys so I can get the new 7-35 ATACR. roflmao

I'm not vain. A yellowish skin complexion is perfectly acceptable if it means I can see the paint molecules on a steel target at 2000 yards. grin
