I have a bobcat eating my chickens. It has come the last 3 nights. I was going to try to get it tonight, but its going to be raining. Do bobcats come out in wet weather? Should I wait?

wild animals are outside 24/7 just as fish are wet 24/7.
wild animals pee and poop when ever they feel the urge,
and lay down or get up and roam whatever time of the day
or night it might happen to be. they don't have a schedule
or timeline to follow like we do. we often forget that.

get you some good quality #3 or #4 traps and let them
keep watch for you. i find it's a whole lot easier than sitting
for hours on end waiting for some varmint to show.
good luck

I kinda like the waiting. Been coming between 8:30 and 9:30. I'll give traps a shot if I can't give the bobcat one tonight.

good luck
you have to be willing to blow your deer hunt so as to shoot
whatever comes by to make even a small dent in the
varmints. i have very seldom let one walk by me, and i've
yet to make a dent that i can tell of

A bobcat has got to eat---raining or not.

Well I climbed up to the top of the barn and waited, but no bobcat. When I called it quits I took the fast way down. Luckily the ground broke my fall.

A bobcat, like most cats does not like to get wet. They generally lay up in a dry spot until rain is over and then get up and feed. If you have an extended rain spell, they might have to get out but they prefer not to.
Adios,
Gary

Glad your ok and can laugh about it. Tylenol and Motrin as needed for the pain. Like SnakeWrangler said traps look better now. Good luck.

Necks a little sore, but advil is helping. Definitely scary when it happened, but I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the pic! You think a live trap would work? I'm worried about catching a barn cat or dog with a foot trap.

Live bait for the live trap then be prepared to shoot it. Bobcats aren't real keen to being handled, just ask some people on this form.

Live traps will catch a bobcat. Back in the good old days I caught many in live traps. It does not have to be live bait. Use a dead chicken, bird or quarter up a rabbit...it can be road kill....bobcats are not picky. Hang a chunk in there and you can catch a bobcat. You will also catch other critters ....coons, possums, skunks, ringtails. And yes, you might catch a dog or cat...I caught my neighbors dog a time or two. No harm done as long as you don't leave them in there a long time.

Action shot looks painful, Old shakie right if they have learn to come in human contact, just about meat will work. This one has the challenge limit, I would be in there for the long haul. good luck. post pic.

So I bought a live trap and I tried a piece of duck in the back of it. Anything special i need to do, or just sit back and wait?

I've heard to hang a chicken feather near the entrance to catch their eye. Good luck
