Who's handloading for 6.8 SPC? Are ya'll seeing much improvement over factory ammo? I know a ton of guys swear by the Hornady 120 SST ammo, but most handloaders seem to be using the 95 TTSX. Any experience?

I have shot ton of both..
I used to handload the 95 TTSX and was sent 500 bullets to test before they went into production.
Running SSA brass and long COAL (max that can fit into PRI mag) I was getting around 2850 FPS out of a 16" barrel.
I have ran both ARP and WC barrels (currently have 2 of the WC lightweights) both shot the rounds well and around the same velocity.

I stopped handloading the 95s after the 120 factory load came out. They are every bit as effective on dropping deer and hogs and I don't to try and recover brass in the field.

Both would shoot .5 or so pretty easily and that's not really trying hard to "shoot for groups"

I have used the 68 for close to 10 years and have ran just about every factory load and bullet type out there.

I think the 95 TTSX gets the nod for handloading with people trying to maximize velocity and MPBR

For me, I grab the 6.8 for hogs out on foot and deer where I am expecting 200 and under shots so the 120s work great for me.

AA2200 and 8208XBR seem to be good powders. 27.5 of AA2200 with the 120 SST shot well in one of my 6.8's. As Princess mentioned, the factory Hornady 120 SSTs shoot really good.

I have a few pounds of AA2200. I think I will start playing with 85 E-Tips in my AR and 130 Speer BTSP in my bolt. I can load them pretty long in the Ruger Bolt.

Another option to look at is the Cavity Back Bullets MKZ. At this time they have no loaded ammo but I know they are working on it. I switched to the 105 gr MKZ over a year ago and they are nasty on pigs.

The 6.8 is the #1 choice for hunting deer and hogs in an AR15

This is the load. 110 grain Accubonds with 28.6 grains of AA2200. The average velocity is 2780fps and the accuracy is awesome.

AR Performance 18" 5R mid-weight barrel, twist 1:11.25

Primer (CCI 41)

Brass was SSA and Hornday.

2.28 COAL on the Accubonds

Thanks for all the info, fellas. I'll load some stuff this weekend and see what's up. I have a 4x Acog on my 6.8 so I cant shoot tiny groups with any ammo. I just want the most efficient hunting round I can get. If I don't have to handload for it, even better.

2780 is humming! I may have to look at that. Which magazines are you using?

Been loading 6.8 for years. I haven't seen a big improvement over factory ammo because my White Oak Armament barrel was already shooting .4 moa with factory Hornady loads. My groups went to .1 moa once I started loading.

I found the best load for my rifle is 30 grains of 8208 XBR and a 115 Nosler Custom Competition bullet. That load gives me .1 moa. at about 2500 FPS (can't remember exact speed) out of a 16" barrel.

A lot of 6.8 shooters like AA2200. The key to getting the best groups out of that powder is to use magnum primers. My groups using AA2200 didn't go sub moa until I switched primers.
