I booked a hog hunt and possibly Javelina for the middle of Feb around D'Hanis TX. Does anyone know if there is Javelina and good hogs around there. Thank for any info.

I prefer a little farther South for Javelina. Hogs are everywhere in Texas. You booked a very good time of the year though. Weather is usually pleasant (cool mornings, afternoons in the mid 60's to lower 70's). Weather can be a bit unpredictable though so plan on dressing in layers. Should still be cool enough that snakes won't be problem. Javelina are 'fair weather' creatures, they don't like it be too cold and won't move much until the sun gets up and warms things a little, so no need to get up at the crack of dawn for them. Hogs are where you find them and at any time day or night. You can hunt Hogs (but not Javies) here at night. Good luck, have fun.

I hear ya. We're heading down for a hog hunt First week in March. Snowing again this morning and down around 0 this weekend. Feb could bring cold weather and like stated javelina and the hogs we hunt don't like the cold. They may pile up and wait for it to warm up before moving. You should miss the chance of twisters though in Feb. We've had sleet, snow and cold in Feb on hog hunts but March brings the hail and twister threat.
Good luck, hope you get a pile of 'em!

Javelinas might be tough to come by without going farther south... we have our ranch in Yancey which is about 15 minutes southeast from D'hanis, we see plenty of hogs... i'm almost positive you will see some pork. I have seen probably seen less than 5 javis in that immediate area in my lifetime (i'm 33), brother actually happen to shoot one a couple years back no too far from our place so it's definitely a possibility...
