My son shot his first ever buck this weekend. When cleaning it, it had hundreds of these bugs on the bottom side of the deer. I have never seen these. They are not ticks.

Look like lice or some kind of mite to me.

I'd get a shower after skinning that one!

Shot an animal in the heart once. He dropped at the shot & without so much as a kick. As I walked up to it I was amazed at the ticks exiting the scene. Once the blood stopped pumping they were outta there.

Deer lice. Big deal they all have them especially during the warmer months. This year they seem to have hung on longer than usual.

Oh man! That's making me think back to the first deer I ever shot. I didn't have much in the way of "equipment" so to get her into the truck I just bear hugged it and hucked into the truck bed. Now I'm thinking ... I ... will ... never ... do ... that ... again!! lol
