I recieved my axis hide back from NTT. I was very impressed with the quality, more so for 40 dollars. Crappy cell phone pics but no holes etc

I head shot this doe for meat salvage and hide salvage and got what I wanted.

Very nice!

Is it for the wall or soft enough for a blanket/throw?

Pretty soft but small in size. The doe I shot wasn't very big. My buddy who went with me on this hunt is having pillows made from his. Mine is laid over a table, looks pretty cool.

40? Wow that's a deal! I ask my taxidermist what it would cost to do a WT hide and he charges $165. Did you ship the hid to the tannery or is it close to your home?

Sorry I just now saw the other part of your question. One of my buddies that was on the axis hunt with me personally took 3 of them to NTT, so no shipping. I still think shipping would not be near as high as going to a taxi though.

I just talked to the Tannery. He said ship it frozen on a Monday via Fed Ex or UPS with your info enclosed in the box and they will call and take payment over the phone. $40 for a WT hide plus shipping to and from. banana

I used them for the first time, based on the recs received on this forum. Glad I listened, as I am very pleased with my axis hide. I believe I paid them $65 which included shipping back to Midland. Well worth it .

I took quite a few last year and they did a great job. About to take a mess of them back soon.

Now I feel a little foolish. I paid 200 to a taxidermist here recently and have to wait 6 months to get it.

The bad part of that is they most likely sent it to the same place.

We just took a couple of axis hides up there about three weeks ago. Only way to go.

How long does it take? Do you have to prep the hide any before you bring it to them?
