So....I am grudgingly getting used to fighting with cows over my feeders and foodplots....I've just decided to make a New Years Resolution that every time I see them, I chase them.......lately though the landowners sheep have discovered my feeders and foodplot.....my question is if sheep bother deer or if the deer will simply ignore them and come in with them around.....I know that they make an uneasy truce with the cows, never coming close if cows are in the plot and hogs actually run off if the cows come in......what effect do sheep have???

I would build pens around your feeders and fences around your plots

Build pens with sheep even though they are quite dumb.

They never seem to time any of my unpenned feeders, but the deer don't like the competition when they cruise by

So, in building pens, if the space is not there to do a panel pen right, ie we have rather thin lanes that my feeders are on rather than space to build a nice square or rectangle, would yall use electric fence? To give an idea of my spot, I hunt a T intersection. My feeder to the left of my blind is about 60 yards out and sits near a flash flood creek. It does have open space to one side that looks more like a lake when it has rained. Coming back towards me, the lane is just over 2 vehicles wide. To my right is open space where i corn the road, prolly the widest of my area. In front of my blind, the feeder is at 70 yrds as well. Lane is prolly 2 1//2 to 3 vehicles wide, though feeder is at the end up against and sort of tucked into mesquite brush. The road continues in front of my feeder and to the right down to the Hondo creek. Im not sure that i could build a feed pen for the feeders there where the deer feel comfortable around either of the feeders. Add into that that my feed plot is the areas to the left and front of my blind. I plow and plant bagged mixes to add in green plants for the deer during the winter. I also corn these areas from my tailgate. Any suggestions would be awesome

I set up a feeder on a new lease. After one month, I had 6200 pictures of cows dining there. New formed trails right up against my camera T post, knocked it off. I decided I wasn't going to feed anymore. If the animals don't appear naturally....they won't get hunted.

Hunted a lease once with sheep. They gathered at the feed pen, milled around until i twent off & tore the fence down in two places getting to it. Cows are worse. I've watched them climb over a 6' fence and, of course, manglng it in the process.

Guess I'm lucky. Our cows don't eat the corn / mess with the corn feeders. They might hang from time to time out of curiosity, but they quickly leave.

Now...protein is a different story...always have a pen around protein...and a pen around corn won't hurt either.

Cows have a hard time eating scattered corn off the ground due to the size of their mouths. They simply can't pick it up very well. Sadly, that won't prevent them from knocking your feeder over.

Polish, I think the electric fence for the plot is a good idea. If the LO is okay with it, go for it!
