Anyone have experience with either of these models. I’ve got a 2016 Mule ProFXT EPS that I love, but can’t keep rodents from chewing the wiring harness. Something Kawasaki must have changed in the way those harnesses taste. I have no problem with any other piece of equipment in the barn except the mule. I’ve narrowed down the replacement between these two for the replacement. I carry quite a bit of feed around on the ranch with the mule and I work them more than I play in them.

It probably has soy based insulation on the wiring. Rodents love it.

I'm a can am defender fan, that being said the Viking is more of a work horse than the can am !!! Both sold choices, I know can ams have more power and the aftermarket parts availability if a lot better. Best to just do research and drive both if you can .

The Vikings are loud and pokey. I am not a fan.
The can am defenders are awesome I have a HD8 crew and it does anything i can ask of it and something’s I wouldn’t think it would do but first without a hiccup
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I just picked up a 19' Can Am Defender HD8 Max DPS and it's freakin awesome!!!! Smooth, quiet and plenty of power. Me and my brother both got one at the same time and woudln't hesitate to do it again. Great machine and I've been in Rangers, mules (old and new), Gators, and Kubotas.... The can am to me is better than all of em..

Can you post a pic of what wires they are eating I’ll get some pics tomorrow. I did email Kawasaki and they pretty much said sorry about your bad luck, you’re on your own even though this is the 3rd time it’s happened.

I bought some rat away from lowes and it seems to work, haven't had any issues since I put them in all my vehicles.

I use Liquid Tomcat in a qt. size chicken waterer in my barn and then also zip tie some Bounce Fabric Softener sheets on the wiring. I use the sheets on my tractor and truck also. If you have pets then you want to put the Liquid Tomcat under a box with small holes cut on the ends for rats and mice to enter into. Put some weight on top of the box also. This all has worked well for me.

I have a Ringtail that lives in my shed. He craps on everything but I don't have any rats or mice.

I just picked up a can am defender max (crew cab) hd 10 after looking and driving them all, except for the Viking. Never been a Yamaha fan, so I didn't even consider it. My top 2 choices ended up being the mule pro fxt and the defender max.
If you're ever down in Temple and want to take mine for a spin, you're more than welcome to. I've only had mine 3 weeks and so far it's been awesome. Hagop on here has a defender that he put some S3 springs in to up the payload capacity for only a few hundred bucks. I've seen him with a bed load of firewood and it doesn't squat hardly at all, yet still rides really nice. I'll eventually upgrade to the S3 springs in mine.
