Anybody have a certain brand or technique for keeping their feet warm while sitting in a blind?

Sock liners with a pair of good wool socks. The liners can be silk, nylon or polypropylene. A good fitting pair of boots that can "breath" such as leather. You want the boots to fit so they are not so tight that the blood flow is restricted. The sock liners wick the moisture off the feet, keeping them dry helps t keep them warm. If you are old and have poor circulation, then you are in for it, your feet will always get cold.

DC has got the right of it.

I have tried most of the different wools - merino, alpaca, etc.. plus all the synthetics and the best I have come across are these bison wool socks made from the down off of bison bellies.

https://thebuffalowoolco.com/collec...-bison-boot-socks?variant=13154780577903

They are pricey but you get what you pay for. I am regularly out in -20 and once in a while as cold as -40. Last night it was -28. These are the best I have found (they may be overkill for Texas). Supposedly qiviut wool (made from muskox) is even better but they are $120+ a pair - so i have not tried them.

For boots I go with these:

https://www.baffin.com/collections/winter/products/40000048

I am a size 9 shoe but wear these in a 10 to provide room for the socks and wiggle space for circulation. With these matched to the bison socks I can have my feet stationary on lake ice at -30 all day ice fishing and my feet are fine.

I use polypropylene socks (sometimes dress socks) with no other outside sock and lace up my boots loose. I want my feet to be able to move around. I use heavy, thick, insulated LaCrosse hunting boots. Sometimes I do wear liners and wool socks, but I think my feet stay warmer without the wool socks. I make sure to keep my head warm also. If that gets cold, I'll be cold. Cold comes in your feet and out your head.

Loosing heat thru your head is a be-bunked myth.

I am with Marvin, hard to beat wool and non tight footwear, even better if you have a thin pair like Chad mentions underneath the wool (more comfortable to me) and ditto on the age thing, dont know how true that is, but I definitely have colder feet now than I did 3-40 years ago. Or if you have a medical issue like diabetes with complications that can restrict blood flow to the feet

I had a buddy that would carry wool socks in his pack for Colorado hunting, he would wear plain gymn socks on the walk in, then swap them when he got where he was hunting. PITA, but if your feet heat up and get wet )sweaty), they will get cold once your exertion is done.

Not sure what shoes you are wearing. As a kid I wore tennis shoes which sucked. As an adult I wore pull on un insulated leather work boots, didn't matter what kind of socks I put on if the temps were in the 30's or low 40's and I sat on a stand for a while my feet got cold. I bought a pair of lace up insulated hunting boots and with ancle socks on my feet stay dry and warm.

My wife picked up a pair of these as a Christmas gift. Best sock I have ever worn. With all of the rain my place has a lot of standing water, so I have been hunting in rubber boots. Typically my feet get hot and sweaty with these boots, but with these socks, not the case. Also, nice cushioned sole, so more comfortable when walking around.

I have the a pair of these and they work as advertised and keep your feet comfortable on the coldest of mornings. The secret is to wear a thin sock next to the skin so that it contacts the foot warmers and then a medium-weight sock on the outside to keep the warmth around your foot. And because you can wait until you're in your stand to turn them on, you allow sweat to dissipate, which is another reason for the thin sock.

This is a great price and about half of what I paid for a pair when they first came out.

I have a condition where capillaries in my feet and hands close off when they get cold, I am on a quest to find the right combo of socks and gloves...

A common thread to these comments relates to keeping your feet dry. You can use liner socks, or various wool/synthetic blends like the smartwool. I really like the under armour line of wool/synthetic. As a company the wicking ability of their techno fabrics is unsurpassed. And nobody has stated it outright, but you should absolutely avoid cotton fabrics, they get wet and pull heat from your body.

Another trick I do is tape a hand warmer to my toes to keep them toasty. Open them up at least 15 mins before you put your boots on so they get nice and hot. I have lots of room in my wafers and muck boots, its a nice to be able to actually feel your toes on a cold day!

You also have to measure out your exertion when possible. Give yourself time to slow walk to your stand or whatever. If you have to haul butt then you sweat, and sweat equals cold feet eventually.

Good wool socks and a boot that doesn't fit too tight. You need an air space between the sock and the wall of the shoe. My cold weather boots are a full size bigger than my regular boots to allow this air space. I grew up in CO and have hunted elk when it was nearly -30 and have kept my feet warm using this method.

I know I'm in the minority here but this is what I do. Same as most with wool socks and liner, except I wear Nike air tennis shoes if it's dry out. They have so much warm cushion it's incredible. If its wet or muddy I wear my hunting boots. They get much colder than my tennis shoes.

All the tennis shoes I have are ones with the mesh sides, when the wind blows I can feel it on my feet, I bet other styles do much better.

I buy my boots 1 size larger than my foot size and drop a hand warmer in the toe of my boot 20 minutes before I leave for the hunt. I started doing that a couple of years ago and have never had cold toes since.

Wool depending on weight, light weight wool can actually be very cool.

Look at compression socks as a liner under the wool. The compression is supposed to increase circulation.
And for the guys that use hand warmers in shoes, they make toe warmers now

Growing up in Wisconsin before I could afford good quality anything, I would wear my tennis shoes and slip on a pair of "Rubbers" over them. I could stand on freezing concrete all day and stay warm. Don't even know if they make those slip on rubbers anymore but they were a cheap and effective fix.

Galoshes will hold the heat in, but the rubber also keeps the moisture in, my feet would stay warm okay, but after a day of hunting and walking, I could pour water out of them. In North Dakota I had a pair of knee high galoshes that were great for walking through deep snow, here I would want a boot high pair.

I have never worn anything more than the Redhead Wool socks for 15 years. Wear rubber boots or Chippewas (not tight!) to the blind so feet build a heat layer. I do not want anything tight around my foot. Before buddy heater used toe warmers if in the 20s sometimes but usually not. Buddy heater is your best friend if you don't sweat and my kids too! I only wear layers of skiing. Wool and loose rubber Academy boot is best for me. Never wear tight or lace boots...

Another tip is shoot your deer early and sleep in while your buddies freeze!!! grin

1/4 inch wool insole in the boot, liner sock I have compression socks for that and heavy weight wool socks works for me. When buying hunting boots i Will take take the wool insoles with me and wear the socks I intend wear and get boots that fit loose but not loose enough to slip while walking. If it is real wet so I need rubber boots it is a pair of Lacrosse Burleys insulated ones.

I have circulation issues and neuropathy bad enough I really could not tell you if my feet are cold without taking my boot off and feeling my feet

+3 on the buddy heater.
I have these from Sam’s. They work just as well as Smartwool for a lot cheaper.

If it is too cold I just hunt from the truck wind block check, heater check. Deer do not seem to mind and it is dry inside if raining
