I'm thinking this year's harvest could be down significantly as a result of the repeated flooding that has occurred in many areas of the state. Perhaps this survey will provide some indication of whether or not that will be the case.

One buck tag left, I'll use it on something before the season is over...

My wife nor I, Did not use one tag this season on our place in East Texas.

And all the flooding has stunted my food plots. They got to about 6 inches, and have yet to grow any taller.

Been on the same lease in eastern Tom Green County for 21 years. This year we've seen fewer deer then any year with the exception of the 2011 drought.

Based on these unscientific results so far, this season's harvest will be down significantly.

We hunt a river bottom and have been under water since before Thanksgiving.

Hurt us. We hunt 100 acre place in menard. Everything is so green and tons of forage, I sat in the blind this last weekend for 5 hunts and didn't see a single deer come in on our feeders. I killed one stalking the fence line. I could tag out in one day in years past.

We hunt in southern Atascosa County and we saw "some" deer at the beginning of rifle season. Now, its January and the deer are few and far between. Does are just about non-existent and bucks are VERY few. I'm thinking that the coyotes and big bobcats take their toll and actually "drive" the deer out of our area. Or maybe the rain (wet winter) has something to do with it.

We killed as many deer as we wanted and lucked into a couple nice, mature wall hanger type bucks on the rut.

But the traffic was definitely slower. Just way too much to eat out there, so the feeders weren't being hit that hard.

Studies using radio-collared deer have found that deer don't vacate areas but simply adjust their movements and remain hidden during most of the day. For that reason, coyotes and other predators are probably more likely to spook deer and get them moving, not that this is reason to give coyotes a pass.

Our area around Christoval has seen 30+ inches of rain since September 1. Only real effect has been accessing stands. Lots more walking and a few more stuck trucks. Deer numbers are high which is our norm. Qayility has been down but that due to the spring/summer drought. That being said, the rains have caused deer to spend less time at feeders but they still showed up.

Below average or maybe at average, depending on this weekend. However, after last week's haul of four coyotes, since Oct 1 the trapper has taken 10 off our place. Between that and the drought it's been a little rough. I would say I've never seen the moon have as much affect as this year-our sightings on hunts during bright moon periods were way down.

The rains also prevented us from putting in our 10 acre oat patch. We don't really hunt it, but not having that drawing card on our place was a definite negative.

My season was great. I am tagged out for the first time in many years, killing 2 does and 2 bucks. The over abundance of rain actually helped me kill my biggest buck ever. Due to the ground being saturated, I had to walk in about 1/2 mile to my stand. After sitting for a short time, I observed a buck stand up from an area of tall brush and grass at 270 yards from my stand. The buck traveled towards me and finally gave me a shot at 136 yards. If I had driven up to the area where I park to hunt, there is no doubt I would have spooked the deer from where it was bedded. It made for a long drag to the truck, but most of the way I was still high on adrenaline. This also got me to thinking about changing my hunting pattern up and walking more to the stands I hunt in future seasons.

The flooding crushed our season. One of my areas (both feeders) has been under water since September and the deer and hogs haven’t even touched the wheat fields this year. We took four deer last year and one this year.

The Lyssy and Eckel's guy called my brother and said that deer are having more stomach parasites than normal this year, he even offered to send a guy out and check. He said it was due to the wet weather.

I have seen just as many deer as normal, no difference really. The bucks were pretty well grown out by the time rains started in September, so they looked good.

I hunted my ground blind that's located in a creek bottom yesterday for a last time. And just like every time this season, I was sitting in mud. I've lost count of the number of high water marks inside it. I noticed on my way out had the area has been wiped clean of all foliage. Nothing green at all, except for one small area of my food plot that sits higher than the area around it. Still, even it has been covered with a least two feet of water on different occasions during the season.

And I remember complaining about past seasons being warm and dry.
