Just curious as to what everyone hunts with. If you care to, why do you use that gauge?

All I have are pump 12's....what I hunt everything with.

28ga. Because we get them close enough to kill and the noise reduction helps us hold birds longer and hunt the same birds more days vs using a 12ga.

Why do you hunt with a pump? Curiously asking here

I hunt in tight spaces with alot of branches around. So I prefer a smaller gun. I hunt with a Remington 11-87 20 ga. Plus I think the smaller shot weights make me aim better to take down the birds compared to a 12 ga.

Ill finish off the season with my sweet 16
I found a case of bismuth nr 5 the other day.
I like the 28 as well with nr 6 bismuth.
I like the noise reduction

Thinking about selling my 12 semi autos.

I started out using pumps....borrowed an auto once and wasted ammo on follow up shots. After each round with my pumps a have to take better aim on targets.

Just works better for me....just personal preference I guess...

I use a 20. I have no illusion it has the range of my twelves. I enjoy decoying birds that finish more and more as the years go by. In that capacity it is more than adequate, and a little more sporting.

I use 12 gauge auto. My backup is my trusty 870 pump, which I started with in high school.

I voted 12 but it just depends on my mood. Sometimes I just like to shoot my 870 in 20 gauge. I think I hunted most of last season with it. This year I've mainly shot my Franchi 12 gauge.

I use an o/u in 12 gauge. I shoot 2 3/4" Bismith for ducks.

12 ga for a lot of reasons. I usually hunt where there is an off chance at honkers so I wanna be ready for that once in a season 40 yard passing shot. Ammo can be found easily and cheap. I don't need noise reduction of a 20+ ga cuz I'm already fairly deaf. I don't need recoil reduction cuz I weigh more than my boat... not really... not yet anyway.

Am I the only one confused as to how there's a poll?

I guess I don't follow?

Or is the answer, everyone is supposed to use a 12ga shooting 3.5" BB?

Never shot one.....just something about a pump that I like.....

I didn't vote because I'm not really a duck hunter and don't want to skew the results. My duck hunting is limited to the occasional passing teal during the early season while dove hunting. So I use my dove gun, an 1100 LT 20 guage. If I don't add the following I know I'll get dog piled:

Yes, I get my Federal waterfowl stamp every year, and yes, I use steel while dove hunting during early teal season. Winchester offers a 7.5 shot in steel 20guage for just such purpose. The steel tightens the improved cylinder choke to roughly a light modified.
