Prime rib roast tonight and black eyed peas tomorrow. Nobody up here gets the peas, can't get our friends with a restaurant to put them on the menu for a day.

I tried to get drunk last night but I could not. Ton of good food and was sober by 9. Slept good and had HOT tamales for breakfast. I'm about to make tamales & eggs for supper tonight. Adios.

ALWAYS on 1/1 I make cabbage rolls for the family. They love'em. Pork/beef/rice rolled up in a cabbage leaf and boiled with sour kraut and tomato sauce. Mashed potatoes on the side....dynamite! My grandad's family has been doing this over 100 years....

Made a pot of beef stew using some ribeye trimmings & turkey stock. I threw in a bunch of black eyed peas for good measure.

I also ate one bite of crappy store-bought coleslaw to get some cabbage in me.
