Paraiso on the west side of 83 in Zapata. Their large is 'bout the size of the one in the pic up above and prices used to be more than reasonable.

Been years since Ive ate it, but couldn't beat a CFS from the Staghorn in Cross Plains after a weekend of hunting....

Mary's in Strawn. All others are either second place or 1A. And I live in Marble Falls and BBonnet is good but.............

Heitmillers in Bellmead, just north of Waco on I-35, has a very good chicken fried steak. The big one is quite a big one, so I get the half, which is plenty. Also worthy of mention is their fried stuffed jalapeños, which are great and great big. One is all you need.

I pulled off !20 for CFS at Mary's one time, sure it was large and will fill you up if you can stand to eat it, but there are many places with better CFS.

My wife made CFS from Axis yesterday. Delicious and so tender. Easy to cut with a dull fork.

My go to now is Franco's in San Angelo. We stopped at Mary's on our way home from Dallas not long ago. Had never eaten there. We were not impressed. One of the worst CFS I've eaten.
