I have been thinking about feeding protein but not sure if I will see much benefit from it. I hunt in bastrop county and our place is about 100 acres. Its a pretty long property but only about 400 or 500 yards wide. So its real easy for deer to travel across a couple people's land in a short time frame. So I am worried the protein will just make younger bucks legal earlier in their life and get shoot by other hunters. Our neighbors on each side dont hunt but not sure about the others near by. We do lease the land out to some people who have cows on it. They have planted a food plot the past 2 years for the deer/ the cows after the season is over they let them in.
Would it be worth feeding protein?

It really depends on deer numbers you have now. I would not feed unless I can afford to feed year round and it can expensive if deer numbers are high for your area. Is your density good for your area or over-populated? Protein can benefit more than just bucks as it can help with fawn survival. More fawns mean more bucks in the future. It also means you have to control or shoot more mouths off. In the long run it should act as a supplement. One or two feeders can benefit a lot of deer and hold deer a bit closer to your place. Post rut you can pull in a lot of bucks that will allow your place to hold those bucks till it greens up in the spring. Free choice would be my first choice with timered/regulated feeders next.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?
