An ad popped up for this on my FB feed and it looks interesting. Has anyone used and what feedback can you give?

OnX is great. I use it for tracking, stalking, land ownership and GPS positioning. I use it for work as much as hunting. Finding land ownership and boundaries is really handy, but they are only as up-to-date as the county will give them information. Usually pretty good in Texas.

I've used it for the last year and it's great, and especially useful when checking out new places. I cant imagine dropping my membership anytime soon. Very helpful tool, can drop very accurate pins anywhere for just about anything (scrapes, deer sightings, trails), track and save your routes, and the best feature is it works completely offline as long as you save an area you know you'll be hunting so no worries about getting signal.

I had the 7 day trial earlier in the season. Nice app. In all honesty I can't see myself benefiting from it in Texas though. 99 percent of the land is private here and 100 percent of the land I hunt is private as well and I know the boundaries.
If your hunting out of state this is the app to have, imo.

So i have been hunting on the same ranch for 30 years. Is it worth getting it you pretty much know the land like the back of your hand? Or is it more for scouting out new places and such?

I am with 7mag, when you know an area really good and know your neighbors there is only so much that you will use. I think the app was made more for public land hunters (especially out west) where the border between public and private land are not marked. And being a new hunter, hiker, camper in a strange area is super handy I also know the place where I hunt very well. But I use the tracker for walking a grid for sheds or for a downed deer without blood trail. Even when you know land good it is crazy how many holes you can leave in the woods when trying to walk an area, especially at night. I use it as a reminder of what my neighbors names are. The memory aint what it was.

I had the trial and deleted. Fast forward a few months later (just 3 weeks ago) as I was in MO Bow hunting with my cousin. He shot a 12 point right at last light and it was so cold he went for it early and pushed it to a point it was gone. We go back to the house and he opens up the app to start making phone calls. Called the land owners around him for permission (new land purchase so didn’t know neighbors yet) and found his Buck 2 properties over.
Great app for public or new area land or to mark all of your blinds, stands, feeders, bedding areas, etc. also good to look at when deciding where to sit for wind purposes

Been using it for over a year. It's well worth it, especially if you're a public land hunter or at least scouting or spot & stalk.

OnX is great, especially for outside of Texas.
If you hunt the same ranch and never plan to change, I would suggest an alternative called Avenza maps. You can upload your own geotiff or geopdf, use it offline, and add lots of place markers to mark scrapes, bedding, blood trail, etc.
I will be purchasing OnX whenever I go for my first big game hunt out West. Until then, I make my own maps and upload them into the free version of Avenza. If you need some help making a map for your property, send me a DM.

I use it all the time but agree with the guy above. If you are hunting your own private place, it's not worth it. It's great in New Mexico or Wyoming where the land ownership is checker-boarded.
The main reason I don't use it more than I do is because the maps only load when you have phone service. You have to plane ahead and load the map of where you are going while you have service or internet. If you wait until you are in the field to open it, it doesn't work.

I believe smartphones still have working GPS, even in dead zones. (At least my iphone does). You can download a map based on your own selection so you can use it offline when in the field. It's what I do and helps conserve battery life.

So something I just did 10 minutes ago, you can use OnX on your computer, I wasn't aware of this, thought it was a phone only app. I just mapped out a new location where I added a blind, feeder, the deer trail, a cross fence for cattle, gates, and a food plot. Then the best part, I printed it out and added my own legend on the bottom. It's pretty much like ArcGIS, if you know what that is, but dumbed down and cheaper.

That is one of the main cool purposes more so for public land hunters. You can prescout the areas ahead of the season from your home.
