So I tried Record rack, deer hammered it but I can Get local feed store protein that is made right there for I think 9-10 bucks a bag. Kinda hard to keep paying 15$ a bag for record rack. You guys that have been doing this a while, do you think it痴 worth it to keep feeding the record rack?

It will end up boiling down to the percentages of minerals in either one. Feeding/supplementing is expensive and takes time and dedication without any over night results.

I知 not in any form looking for over night results or even really care about that for that matter at this point. I知 looking to provide quality nutrition for the post rut bucks in my area so they can recover and be healthy. I知 just wondering if the cheaper stuff is just as palatable as the expensive stuff? With it be just as nutritionally beneficial?

If you know them and trust that what the tag says is right then it probably will be. If you don't know them, then you could be getting more filler than the good stuff. I personally feed double down or record rack. I don't have the time to invest to find out if I'm right or wrong...

I'm willing to bet that I知 not in any form looking for over night results or even really care about that for that matter at this point. I知 looking to provide quality nutrition for the post rut bucks in my area so they can recover and be healthy. I知 just wondering if the cheaper stuff is just as palatable as the expensive stuff? With it be just as nutritionally beneficial? IMO you won't be able to tell the difference in your deer on either product for your intended usage. But you can tell the difference in $. I know when we feed protein to sheep and goats, we don't try to spend an extra $6 a bag.

I壇 call Purina and LE and see what they recommend from thier line and why.... then compare labels.
Fat%, trace minerals and roughage are probably more important than protein percentages, but thier on staff biologists can probably tell you everything you need

We feed LE 20% and have pretty good results which is what they will recommend. I've heard DD works good too but probably mostly hype and advertisement. Supplemental feed is only what it says it is, the best results come from natural browse that needs rain at the right time. We switch to 16% for post rut which has more fat content, then in switch back to 20% mid February. Feeders are actually full of 16% now, filled last Monday. Pray for good rain in the spring.

Local feed store protein works pretty well. Feed it in the off season. Corn during deer season. The protein takes a little time to take hold but works just as well as anything for growing deer. Been feeding 20% on 1200 acres for over 15 years now. Deer herd is healthy, nice mature bucks. Be prepared to see your wallet shrink.
