Hello all, I am an Alaskan resident who's family got invited to join friends on a vacation with friends in the Lake Travis area last minute. I am a 70% service connected Veteran, Army. 99-06 Kosovo and OIF. There, the vet card is played. I am on a shoestring budget but would love to take my eldest of 3 daughters out to sit for a whitetail. She is 12 y/o and hunter safety certified. I have been taking her after big game (moose ect..)here in Alaska for the last 2 years to no avail. My daughters all started hunting at 5y/o when they received their first .22. She has killed many grouse squirrels and rabbits. The big animals just haven't been cooperative long enough for her to take a shot. She is, in a good way but frustrating way, super super anal about taking her time to pull the trigger. So we haven't had an animal stand in front of her long enough to be taken by her.
So if anyone might have it in their heart to allow my daughter and I to sit and possibly harvest a deer or two (of your discretion) off your property or know of someone who may help us. please P.M. me. I would be willing to pay a small "trespass" fee, but don't have the budget for what the ranches I've found online require. We understand Hunting and know that its never guaranteed to harvest. We would be willing to travel quite a ways as that is a norm when living and hunting up here in Alaska.

Last dilemma is that, like I mentioned, this is last minute. As in we will be getting into Austin on the 23rd of Dec and leaving the 4th Jan. I know this is a long shot but I thought I'd try, It is for my daughter after all.

Thanks for hearing my plea. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

P.S. I would be more than happy to share some freezer goods from up here. (carrot dangle? lol )

As another option, check the outfitters section for doe hunts. They are not free, but affordable, high likelihood of success, and a good starting point for hunters.

Good luck and welcome to the forum and Texas.

welcome

Jeffbird, Thank you for that info I will also look into that. And thanks for the warm welcome. I am a dyi hunter and used to millions of acres of public land so this is definitely out of my wheelhouse. It doesn't help that it is so last minute, but I'm a hunting freak so any possibility that I can get in the field particularly with my children I have to make an attempt. Not to mention our friends are already at the house where we are staying at and have reported a nice 10pt, 2 big 8's and a couple 6's hanging out in the back yard. I think the thought of staring at those tenderloins safe and sound as pets will be very trying. lol. Thanks again.

We are so very grateful for the warm hospitality and generous sharing of ccoker and his son for providing my daughter and I with a fantastic taste of Texas and Texas hunting. We are forever indebted to you and hope to foster this friendship into the future. Best wishes. Thank you Texashuntingforum and your members for providing the platform that allowed this to happen.

Thanks for stepping up ccoker. If your place was anything like ours, the deer were everywhere up to the 25th and then they completely disappeared on the 26th, never to be seen again. I'm talking seeing 8+ deer in a sit to seeing maybe one lone deer at best.

Great Job CCoker! This forum doesn't get a lot of activity so it was awesome to see it work for someone.
