A comment on another post made me wonder. We spend a lot of time thinking about hunting. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here. A lot of us spend lots of money and time hunting. We do this for many reasons, but the ultimate goal for most is to kill a deer. And not just any deer, but a big buck, or even a buck of a lifetime.

SMILE, you just did what you set out to do. You’re allowed to be happy.

My question is, when you achieve that goal and the hunt is over and it’s time to take pictures, why do so many look like their dog just died in the picture?

Because they talk so much smack on the internet, they try to look like a hardazz in their pictures to keep up the tough guy persona. roflmao

When I was younger the ultimate goal was to get that big buck but now it's about the process and being out doors. Hunting new places is always exciting. Learning to actually enjoy every minute of the hunt is rewarding. Just like fly fishing for me, if I catch or don't catch fish I'm still enjoying myself.

So with all that being said, I the guy smiling in the picture (anticipating the next time out)

If you knew my old man, it makes that picture worth even more. He is about as even tempered of a man I have ever known. To say he was excited was an understatement!!

Not a bad smile on too little sleep. grin Buck before this I didn't even get a pic with it since I was alone and spent 2 hours getting it back to camp. I got one smiling pic at the processor a stranger took.

I have observed that some people just don’t smile for pictures

'Couple of great bucks posted above.

Some guys won't let themselves smile, or laugh out loud. It must be terrible to not be comfortable in your own skin, especially doing something you supposedly love. I don't trust 'em.

Will Farrell! That's a new one. grin Someone said Randy Travis once like 25 years ago. hammer Now my sons face needs some work. The picture taker is only 14 so he could have staged it better.

There's pics with me smiling, others not. Hadn't given it a moments thought 'til now. For me, not a particularly critical issue one way or another.

I always smile. Unless I’m wore out

My smile face is a combination of extreme constipation and sex offender...so no smile for me. I am just not photogenic.
