This is my first time posting on here and it's a good one.....

My best friend/fiancé (Jennifer) has been hunting along side me for 4 years now. She has shot a few doe and took her 1st buck (basket 8pt.) 2 years ago. This year I decided to give her my big buck tag since she has been a good sport over the years and didn't complain about early cold mornings or give me hell for going hunting in the first place. A month ago my uncle shot at and missed a very nice 8 point at 60 yards (his scope was off). I knew exactly where that deer would be so the next morning Jennifer and I took a pop up blind and set it down in a river bottom along the fence line. About an hour after first light I look behind us and there's the big 8 point my uncle missed running towards us. I wake her up and hand her the gun. The buck runs 30 yards in front of us and stops for what seemed liked 5 minutes. Jennifer is struggling to find him in the scope because he is so close. By the time she gets a glimpse of him in the scope he jumps the fence and is gone. She was incredibly frustrated and about to cry because she knew it was a big deer and everything happened perfectly, she just couldn't find him in the scope. Buck fever is real and happens to all of us! If you ever stop getting that feeling then you need to quit hunting.

Fast forward to last Saturday morning.... My dad is hunting about a mile from us and sees a monster show up that we have never seen before on trail cams. My dad watches the deer for about 20 minutes and even takes a few pictures of the deer when we he's 40 yards from his tower blind!!! When we gets back to camp he shows us the pictures and the deer is a monster 11 point, tall, and thick! I asked my dad why on earth did you not shoot him?!?!? He said, "because I want either you or Jennifer to shoot him." I was shocked that anyone would pass this deer up! My dad told us that the deer would be back in the same spot that evening and we needed to hunt his stand. The man was right, at 3:30pm that afternoon the deer walked out and at 90 yards Jennifer made a great shot and dropped him. She had just killed her first wall-hanger and I couldn't be anymore proud of her!!!
