Seems to be extremely slow with too much water. What are others experiencing?

It's my third season living in Houston and hunting the nearby coast. I've managed to be successful but the bird numbers are the lowest I've seen for the area. I don't think we had a great hatch this year. Never got the young dumb birds in November. Second is we've had so much rain this year that the birds here are spread out. Hopefully we have freezing temps and a good ice up or two in our future. Keep at em!

It’s not a bird numbers problem. It’s a water problem. They’re just more spread out. They’ve been steadily shooting big limits of birds in Deep South Texas all season

Mid winter duck counts were the lowest in 5 years in SETX. I'm talking Anahuac, McFaddin, and Murphree. Hard to believe they could be lower than last year but apparently they are.
I'm with GK because I like salty old dudes.

Great point John Paul. Coastal count numbers are 76% lower than 2017 numbers for the survey. South Texas brush country appears to be the only area that is not down compared to last year and is showing a 35% increase in ducks from last year. However, Texas overall had 50% less ducks surveyed compared to 2017.
