Maybe a silly question, but......Is it legal to shoot a deer in your backyard with an arrow?

That depends. How big is the property? Inside city limits? What county? Is there an HOA? Do they have rules against it?...You are asking a very vague question.

If it is legal you are most likely still going to piss off a bunny hugger.

Maybe a silly question, but......Is it legal to shoot a deer in your backyard with an arrow? I can almost guarantee you, that the deer will not "die" in your backyard, if you live in a normal neighborhood. So, will you go knocking on your neighbor's door asking if you can get your dead deer. I would like to hear that conversation.

For the record, I am not going there. But it seems to have happened.
Parker County No HOA ~0.6 acre Big field behind the house (undeveloped right now, but part of that neighborhood). Likely where the deer passed, since reportedly it ran 100 yards after being shot.
Edited to add: Take the big field away. If the deer did pass on said property, legal?

Outside city limits, no HOA, I believe it would be legal. May not be smart...

Outside city limit. With a bow. Is legal. Gonna need neighbors permission to track.
Also. I don’t let my HOA control my life.

Back in I believe it was 1993 a Lady in Hill Country Village which actually in San Antonio had a huge WT Buck get his antlers caught in her fence. She killed it with a knife. She got into some Do Do over it because a knife was not legal to kill a WT with.

Just make sure your arrow doesn't get away from you, and it will eventually. I saw an episode on North Woods Law where an arrow was found in the yard of a neighbor near his kids swing set, and they even tracked down the hunter and used information on the arrow to find where he bought it. They found the guy the arrow belonged to, and his arrows in his quiver matched the arrow that was found. They somehow used the bar code to prove it was his as well. Shooting deer in a neighborhood isn't a very wise thing to do as you have no control over what happens after the shot.

If it is legal you are most likely still going to piss off a bunny hugger. If it's in a neighborhood you can pretty much bet a dozen bunnies that other people are feeding the same deer and consider them "their pets". Having one of "their pets" show up at feeding time with an arrow sticking out of it you can just about count of one of the county Game Wardens to show up looking for answers. They are pretty good detectives and won't just brush it off until they find out what happened, and by whom. As a side note I apologize for the repeated posts, but I've seen this happen more than a couple of times, (fortunately not to me) and none of them ended well for the shooter.
