Looking at a new bird dog, male around 8 months old. In house have a fat and happy 7 year old female Labrador, she really doesn't care about other dogs, one way or the other. How to make this a smooth introduction/transition in the house? Plan to exercise the new pup plenty, but tips/tricks for a smooth transition? Don't want a jealous older female, and don't want a male pup harassing female etc.

Thoughts?

I have always done a slow introduction. Never let them compete for food. Let them know you are alpha dog.
