I was a houndsman for several years. The darkness is my friend.

After being out this morning way before sun-up with nothing but starshine for illumination, I'm gonna have to amend my statement just a bit. When it's "sho nuff" dark, I'm afraid of stepping wrong and aggravating my lower back. No worries about skunks, prickly pear or little girl ghosts. Stirring up my back trouble? THAT I live in fear of!

I've never understood why people are afraid of cemeteries either. Everyone there is dead and will not rise up and get you.

People need to check their imaginations or quit watching goofy horror movies.

There is your answer right there..... 2cents

I am not afraid of the dark and always hunted in the afternoons up in MA and the NE area. After hunting in bear country without being able to have a side arm, only having a recurve bow and bear mace, I decided to buy night vision just for added security. The red wolf-coyote hybrids are what you really need to worry about up there because they travel in packs and are 75#’s plus with no fear of humans. They will also follow a doe pee trail. So I learned the hard way about not hunting from the ground EVER lol.

It would be hard to duck hunt if you were afraid of the dark. Wading to a duck blind in the pitch dark can be interesting with or without lights. Walking to my deer blind in the dark is a piece of cake.

Not afraid of the dark, but afraid of walking up on a sow with her new babies. Generally they run away fast as lightening, but momma sow has been territorial lately.

I don't go into unfamiliar wood in the dark, solo. Where I hunt, woods are often near creeks and creeks are fed by ravines and gullies. They range from a few inches deep to over 40 feet deep.

I may be the most dangerous thing in the woods, but that could soon change if I end up in one of those ravines.

Right, but you aren't afraid of being in the woods in the dark. You are using reasonable caution for hazards that do indeed exist.

Everything in the dark fears me!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Walk pretty regularly in the dark, both around the house and when out on the land. Not afraid, but i have had my fair share of times when that one bad thought comes across my mind and I somewhat nervously try to change my line of thinking without any luck. Also walked through east texas a ton in the pitch black, the noises you hear can make hair stand up. Beyond that, i feel pretty safe. Ran into deer, hog, coons, exotics, etc., etc. in the dark and never had a problem. Always carry a side arm though if not partnered with a rifle.

I hunt at night on a regular basis by myself. Doesn’t bother me at all, but flushing dove or quail in the pitch black causes me to cuss and makes my heart jump out of my chest.

I don’t mind the dark, just need to make sure I know the route. Nothing stinks more than walking into cedars, cactus or cows while trying to traverse the hill country enroute to the blind. Once I get the route down I drop a pin and use my hunting app to guide me in the dark until I get it down.

I don't mind the dark at all and usually walk to the stand in the dark. I do however hate walking face first into a spider web.

Head and neck seems to itch for an hour after with the perception it's some nasty spider walking across my neck.
