 Squirrel Bag Limit & Season duration?

I am hunting a county that is NB (no bag limit) & No Closed Season. Reading between the lines, do you think this means there are so many Squirrels you couldn't possibly shoot them all? Or, do you reckon there are so few there is no sense in trying to regulate them?
My hunting area is Wharton county in the Colorado River bottom land. Have not been there enough yet to determine the Squirrel population.
What is your opinion?

What is your opinion? I think it's not so much a lack of squirrels as it's a lack of squirrel hunters. No need to regulate if there is no pressure. Squirrel hunting used to be huge in East Texas so they needed regulation to keep them from getting shot out. Personally, I love squirrel hunting. I go every chance I get.

There are plenty of squirrels there. Just find the timber and the food source. I grew up and hunted in Victoria and Gonzales counties. NB and no season but plenty to hunt in the river bottoms.

I use a Ruger 22 pistol up on the San Marcos river and bagged quite a few. I like eating squirrels.

I've hunted my buddy's (RIP brother) ranch in Wharton County along the Colorado many times. Loads of squirrels and other critters there. It stays green year round, though, and that can make squirrel hunting a bit rough. A fella with a good tree dog could clean house down there. It really is rich with small game. Fat swampers and bobcat too. Happy hunting.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with this. IMO if there aren't many, they won't allow you to shoot em. Curious if you went out there already? Would love to hear how it went!

Williamson county is like that. Most WMAs I've been on, I've not seen a squirrel. Go to the backyard, put some corn out, and you'll see plenty. Not really hunting so they continue to live.
Would love to find a place to go and actually hunt them.

Do you know if the Luminant Unit is a good spot to check out. I have the last of my finals today, and am wanting to check it out tomorrow. I've been to two or three places (since I got my license), and am a brand new hunter (1st season). I haven't had any luck yet, and am starting with squirrels and small game. As I have no truck (I have a car), or boat.
