Looking into getting some land to hunt for me and the kids. Looking around freer, Alice area and uvalde/ del rio area. Any recommendations on either as far as numbers/quality of animals? Planning to go look in both areas, but checking to see about others thoughts who know both areas. Live in San Antonio so both are close. Looking for something small, less than 50 acres. Thanks

50 acres bordering a 1000 acre ranch is ok --------- 50 acres and everyone around you has 50 acres ---------------------THAT is the most important question to be answered.

50 acres bordering a 1000 acre ranch is ok --------- 50 acres and everyone around you has 50 acres ---------------------THAT is the most important question to be answered. This ^^^^^^^^^^. Land that is part of subdivision is for sale for a reason(s). I would never buy small acreage down by Alice or Freer if it were me. Out north of Uvalde or in the Del Rio area can be in the Anthrax area. It is not when if it will be an Anthrax outbreak but when will the next one be. If the land does not have Ag use taxes, the taxes will be very high.

I have owned 2 places south of Rocksprings in the past. What a incredible & beautiful area it is south of town on Hwy. 674 !! Selling that place was so hard cause it was amazing, but living on the Gulf Coast the 7 hour drive was too much. That place was loaded with game, exotics, scenic views. Dang I miss it, but just too far away for me.
Dryberry was the last lake God created and it took the entire seventh day. Dryberry Lake Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada (a.k.a. Heaven)

Fairly easy to get a wildlife exemption so taxes will be nominal (seven criteria and you only have to meet three) Drilling a well and bringing in power can be a pricey proposition. And I agree with Nate...50 acres in a sea of "ranchette's" could be a disaster....but 50 acres with larger low fenced neighbors could be awesome.
