I eat something before I leave in the morning and just bring water. I've taken some snacks a few times but always forget to eat them.

My buddy once showed me up with a bag of fried chicken from a local gas station.

I like warming up those little aluminum tins of cinnamon rolls on the heater. Great with coffee on a cold morning. PB&J with a little bottle of milk for lunch. Jerky and a bottle of water for afternoon snack. Dinner back at camp.

Apples, cuties, the small easy to peel oranges, water. Trail bars. In the evening, beer.

I usually have an assortment of Little Debbie's or Hostess goodies. Unwrapped and put in a sandwich sized Tupperware so I don't make noise with the wrapper and they don't get crushed. During holidays sometimes a piece of pie. Sometimes I take pistachio nuts.

I adjust my snacks to the type of game that I am hunting. I just do spot and stalk hunting.

For deer and elk it is plenty of water, peanuts, 1-2 bananas, 1-2 oranges, 1 apple, a couple of PBJ "burritos", and the occasional water flavorer. If there's any left over pie at the house I will take slice with me.

For bear and other predators, same as above but I will add sardines in oil to the mix above.

In all cases I nibble all day and eat slowly. This way I keep energy levels up and get maximum scent coverage. The target animal tends to enjoy the aroma of the foods that I eat.

In no case do I eat foods that can produce foul gas while hunting. I have seen animals catch a whiff and watched them change course. I've also seen animals catch of whiff of grape Kool-Aid or pie and come running in.

Big cup of coffee and that's about it. If I'm going to sit all day, I'll stop at McDonalds the night before and grab a few double cheeseburgers. Stick them in the fridge over night then use my little buddy heater to warm them up while in the blind.

And they have a tremendous shelf life as well.

Ham and cheese Lunchables is another snack that I sometimes take when I’m expecting to stay until later in the morning.

Also, a small thermos of hot chocolate can really warm the bones on a cold morning. Stanley makes a pint-sized thermos that works great for this.
