Will be used primarily for deer hunting. 8x or 10x? Zeiss Terra ED, Maven C.1, Vortex Viper, Leupold BX-3, or other? Durability is important, as is warranty.

At $350 I'm looking hard at the Maven C.1 10x42, but I can be talked out of it.

Any input would be appreciated.

I have looked through nearly every brand of binoculars out there, and in my opinion, there is not a better value than these:

Steiner Marine/Military 8x30: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1359218-REG/steiner_2033_8x30_military_marine_binocular.html/

Steiner Marine/Military 10x50: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...50_military_marine_binocular.html?sts=pi

I own 3 pair of Steiners (oldest are about 15 years old), and have never had the slightest issue with any of them. They are extremely durable and my oldest pair has been beat up without any malfunction. They all have individual eye focus, which for me is much easier to use than a center focus. Once I set a pair to my eyes, I never have to change the focus again....regardless if I'm looking at something 30 yards away or 600 yards away.

I would buy the Meopros or the Leupold BX4 in that range. I tried the Mavens. The glass was really nice but the the build quality in the pair I purchased was lacking.

The last Steiner's that I ran across were left in a box stand by someone who had trespassed to hunt the stand.

The landowner kept and loves them.

Hard to beat Vortex, and especially their warranty!

I'm another Steiner fan. Very durable and their ability to allow you to see at dawn and dusk is wonderful.

Meopta and Steiner are probably some of the best glass for the money.

Both companies have been around for a long time so they are not one of these new internet companies that could fold up in a few years.

Ended up with Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide HD in 8x42. Cabela's has them for $549 but found a deal online at $419.
Couldn't pass that up. Thanks for all the feedback.

After reviewing this and on line reviews I got a pair of Vortex Diamond Back 10x42. Rated 3rd out of 10 reviewed and the price was 159.00 on Amazon. Hoping they will be good. I have never had a high end pair although I felt my Nikon Aculon were not bad.

Received my 10x42 Vortex Diamond Backs and I am really pleased. The clarity is unreal. Time will tell if they maintain my high opinion. As I said I paid 154.00 on Amazon and they came from Midway for which I was very happy however Midway now has them for 129.00 I called and they said as I bought them from amazon they could not offset the price difference. Still a great price as every where else they are ay least 229.00.

I have Steiner 12/40 . These are rubber covered and the rubber is about gone on them. I have then taped with black electric tape. Steiner would not warranty this part. The glass is as good as any I have ever used. helped me spot thousands of pairedogs. They are about 20yrs old. I would buy them again.
