Been reading about these. Who has one and how do you like it?

I sell them and have used them extensively. I'm not sure what you want to do with it but they are excellent tracking devices...hence the name. Small, lightweight, great battery life from a single CR123A battery. If you want to find dead deer, hogs etc and you don't have other thermal devices, this is a great and affordable option. If you want to use it for spotting/ID'ing live animals....it's not great.

The original model will detect hogs and deer out to 200-250 yards but they are a TINY blip on the screen. I do mean tiny and you could miss them. I think realistic usable range for spotting is 100-150 max and even then, you will have no real clue what you're looking at. The new HD model is better on the detection range but the ID range isn't much better.

Simply put, if you use it for it's intended purposes of tracking and finding dead/wounded animals, it's great. If you want it to spot with it, I'd save my money and buy a good digital NV unit like the Sightmark Signal RT. You'll get a lot more spotting use out of something like that than the LTO's. So far there is no such thing as good (or decent), cheap thermal. You can choose good or decent thermal and you can choose cheap thermal but you can't have all 3. At least not yet.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the replay. Not really sure my intended use more than it looked like a cool product you could play with in the stand while it is dark and you are bored. Most of our feeders are in the 100-125 range so i may pick one up just to try out but will look into the Sightmark as well as the price point is about half. Thanks!

For just playing around they are fun. Anyone who hasn't messed with thermal or NV and they've seen one I've had around, they really think it's awesome.

I bought one from Academy, used it twice and took it back. Was disappointed in it and I really din't know what I wanted to do with it. I just realized it wasn't for me. Academy gave me my money back no questions asked. Talk to that man above ^^^^ about what you want to do and let him fix you up. Honest and forthcoming.

A buddy has one, just for tracking animals. The first time we used it, performed as expected.

I hear a new model is about to drop. Any intel on the new one?

I don't have any info on a new model but it's possible. The HD model was released this year but no word here on anything else. SHOT Show will be in Vegas the last week of January and that's normally when all the new stuff is announced, we should know by then for sure.

I use it for tracking animals and it saves time. I also use it to scan for hogs in the dark while in a stand. It is small and rugged. I ran over mine with a Mule and it still works.

God bless John Wayne!

Had one and got rid of it after a year. Was not impressed, had to use my reading glasses to see it.
