I have an enameled coated one that is the HEB brand and I am pretty happy with it.

Always wondered about the enamel coated ones. My mom had an old enamel coated pot thing stuck like glue and would burn on water and was impossible to get clean again. It wasn't cast iron, but it has kept me from buying anything cast iron that is enamel coated. I hope its good for you.

The enamel will eventually chip. If it gets scuffed, it will start to stick. Enameled pots are not a long term solution. Of course, you’re best advised to go cast iron.

I have a couple of Le Crueset 6 qt enameled dutch ovens They do scratch and require a little more care, lid is cracked on one where my mom dropped it in the kitchen.

Funny thing, I mentioned wanting one so my wife paid retail price and got it for me for Christmas one year. Mother in Law looked at it and said, I got the same exact pot you can have - picked it up at a garage sale for $5, never used it - same color and everything.

Edit. Misread the op, I think the Lodge would make a great gift for your bride. Nice job.

Mine came as part of a set. It's served me fine.

Got a Lodge. I like it. Got good cast iron too but I'll use the enameled one for soups, stews, gumbo and chili.

They work great. I have a set but only use mine when cooking acidic tomato based dishes like sauce piqaunt's & couvillion's. Everything else I cook in regular black iron. Oh, and I use wooden spoon's only in all of my cast iron - especially in the coated pots. To clean, use a half cut potato and salt.

Just got that sucker and it's heavy. Is there any certain way to clean it or just wash it?
