What is BPH?

Enlarged prostrate — gotta get and and pee all hours of the night. If you don’t have it yet, and you live long enough, you will.

Mayo Clinic says, “Men over 50 have a 50 percent chance of having BPH, while men over 80 have a 90 percent chance of having the condition. Current estimates show approximately two million men currently receive treatment for BPH. Symptoms of BPH vary from man to man, and worsen over time as the prostate gland continues to enlarge.”

I haven't reached the point where I need a procedure but I have looked into my options. The Urolift is not available to me due to my being allergic to nickle. If anyone in your family, has a nickle allergy, you will need to be tested to be absolutely sure you aren't allergic to nickle.

Try nettle root, it is very helpful. I get mine from lost empire herbs.

Also cut out all caffine, both will help a lot

Don't drink so much before bedtime.

I hadnt heard of it until I read this. My frequent nught pee was tied to diabetes. When i have that inder control i get to sleep all night.

Going for an MRI Tuesday to rule out any cancer

Why are you having an MRI? Is your PSA level high as well or did your doctor feel something during your DRE?

its been going on a couple years now. PSA was up and my G.P. sent me to a urologist, he did a sonogram, discover my prostate is big, He went ahead and did a biopsy, no cancer.

The BPH symptoms are getting old, so Im exploring my next options, which is to live with it or do one of the procedures to help. He ordered an MRI just to make sure there is nothing one last time.

Good luck with the MRI. Tamsulosin has worked well for me.

A very old friend, couple years older'n me, had all the usual old age symptoms and put them off getting checked out...too far to Dallas VA with no shuttle available and Choice program not honored by any Dr's in his county at the the time - it is now finally. Dunno why he decided to get checked out...and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer from the multiple external sites on his prostate. Long slow Tough way to go. Survived 'Nam as a telephone repair lineman in MAC V's '65 AO, climbing poles with no security in remote areas with nuthin but a WW I 12 guage riot gun and a bandolier of Buckshot

After 50 ...Don't think you are still 10' Tall and bulletproof...Just Sayin' @#$% happens to all of us...and as bad as I detest Dallas VA's super scary poor quality ham handed care...it's better than going to sleep at the Wheel.

We guys seem to put off going to a urologist to have the enlarged prostate examined. Don't procrastinate, be safe for yourself and family. Nothing to the exam.

had my mri yesterday. go next week for results. they gave me the CD i couldn't tell what i was lookin at

I had to have the surgery about 7 or 8 years ago. No fun. Gonna have to have it again.

MRI was negative foe cancer, thank God. going to have the Green Light Laser procedure. doctor said my prostate is too big for the Urolift procedure.

out patient deal, vaporize the prostate around the urethra , catheter for a few hours, couple days back to normal

had the surgery Friday, got the freeeeking catheter out today. I've had funner times.

Bladder was clear, no funky stuff happening there. feeling better now, it will take a couple weeks to see the real results.

Man I have a real respect for the people who wear a catheter everyday, what a PITA !!!

My greatest fear is the catheter. I had one 50 years ago and have always told them they have to put me under if we ever do that dance again.
