I want to hunt more out of my pirogue, but aint trying to paddle for ever. Have seen people putting mud motors on pirogues and was wondering how to go about this. Where do you even get the motors I've only seen kits?

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Check out this kit - https://mudmotorkit.com/mud-motor-kits/small-swamp-runner.html

He list compatible motors and where to get them.

Do you have pics of your pirogue?

Or pics of pirogue with a mud motor on it?

I’ll pull out the pirogue in the morning and snap a pic of it. I was reading the other post on here about hunting out of kayaks, and saw a pirogue similar to mine with a mud motor on it. It’s just been one of those what if thoughts for a while, and want to see if it’s even viable.

I don't know why it wouldn't work as long as you matched the weight of the motor to the stability of the pirogue....

The ridge down the center I think makes it not practical to try and mount a transom for a mud-motor on that boat. You are better off selling that boat, get a cheap john boat, and put a mud motor on that, which will cost you over $1.2K just for the motor and long-tail. I cannot speak for other small mud-motors but I have had great experience with Stumpjumper. Bill is the owner, picks up the phone every time I call, or calls you right back if he is on a call. He has spent a lot of time with me on the phone helping me rig my momarsh.

Well, it may be a pearow (wasn't sure what that was until now) but it's not a pirogue!

Get you a cutlass bearing, strut, and packing gland and do an inboard. I had a 5.5 in a 14-ft pirogue and it would go anywhere you'd want it to go.

Nice layout boat. Not sure about mounting a mud motor but maybe you can mount a trolling motor to it...clamp a 2x4 to the top and attach the motor to that...

Just so we're all in agreement here is a pic of a pirogue

OP,

You need to mount some sort of transom adapter

See what they did on Guy's boat - shouldn't be to hard to do.

Yeah there will be a need for a transom adapter. But gotta get the motor before I do anything.
