Sitting in the blind this afternoon, facing North across a ROW and looking east and west for deer. Small groups of doe in both directions and a big doe eating corn by the pond to my left. Light is getting dim. And here comes a small rack 6 point, sniffing the air and looking at the doe. Nothing much doin there, so I just kept looking around, and there’s a lump on the edge of the dry creek, right out in front of me. I didn’t remember a log or chunk of wood being there. Put the binocs on it and it’s a 6 point on his belly and sound asleep. How he got there, laid down and took a nap, I have no idea. 75 yards from me. What a great hunter I am....

They are sneaky. I've had them magically appear just blinking my eyes. I have never slept while in the stand, but they just appear out of no where.Like I said, I have never fallen asleep in the stand. Wink Wink, nudge nudge. bs

Well, I was reading a book from time to time, so I suppose that’s when he snuck in. I guess...or maybe he did just slide into place quickly and without much movement, and I just missed seeing him. He slept for about 45 minutes, and I could see him open his eyes from time to time. His head was always looking toward the pond where I put out corn, so I suppose he was resting until some hot lookin doe showed up. Later he was up and moving in an amazingly fast and fluid movement. He was looking toward the hay field at something, for sure, but I never did see what got his attention. I’m thinking he must have smelled something, and my nose couldn’t compete, since I smelled nothing.

Later, when doe season started up, I walked to the same stand before daylight. The ground and leaves were wet, so I made no noise. Climbed up in the stand, got comfortable, and when there was enough light to barely see with binocs, there were two deer belly down about 50 yards in front of the stand. I think I did sneak in without them seeing, hearing, or smelling me.
