Will this work in an oven or will the cast iron get too hot and burn the crust before the filling is done? I'm using cinnamon roll dough for the crust. Some funky recipe I saw an Fox 4 Good day chef confused2

Why wouldn't it work?

We have made cookies, cornbread in cast iron before without issue.

Yes, it will work just fine — especially with just a smudge more butter in the crust (or just mix in a little bacon fat for that exta umph)...

Sounds great, Don't know why it wouldn't work. Maybe, like cornbread, heat the pan and put butter in to melt.
Let us know how it turns out .

It will work fine, you can also buy cast iron pie pans.

Sure you can. I prefer a small Dutch oven for cobbler and the crust is always brown and crispy on the bottom. Your best pecan pie will be made in an antique Fire King glass pie plate though.

Mine were always made in a store bought crust.

Wife’s pies got so much better after she started making old school crust with lard and cooking it in the fire king dish. Her wild Maine blueberry pie was flat out banned from the pie contest at church, but was welcome in the pie auctions. It always sold for north of $150.

Reminds me of my grandmother^^^^. At Church suppers, the ladies preparing the kitchen and serving area would sneak a piece of my grandmothers pecan pie for themselves before the line was opened up for serving.
