Got to my cousins ranch near Cherry Springs on Tue eve. Not seeing usual amount of deer. Not rutting here yet which is very unusual. Been coming here for many years this same time every year and rut was either kicked in or was right on the verge. The mature bucks are totally dry on their hocks. Saw a big mature 9 that was a lil dark but no staining at all. Mature bucks showing zero interest in doe. Good luck to all...
Yes Don very strange. My cuz had this place 28yrs(450ac)and he’s never seen it like this in mid Nov....many years main rut is usually over right after Thanksgiving. Tha boyz better get bizzy. ha
I have been hunting in Cherokee in San Saba Co. and they have been rutting like crazy. I've rattle in some decent little bucks but no bigguns yet. I watched a three year old 8 jump on to our property (200 acres) and chase a doe clear across to the other side.
We hunt in the southern part of the county near Enchanted Rock. We saw a little bit of chasing starting up last weekend, but not really hot and heavy yet. I think it is about really get good.
Just got back from 9 days in the Valley Springs area. Didn't see any rutting activity what so ever. Bucks aren't paying any attention to the does at all. I rattled in a few young bucks but no shooters. Had 2 really nice 8s show up at the feeder together this morning.
