I have an upcoming wild game feast Iíve been planning for Christmas. The problem is I need a hog to round out all me required proteins. I figured by this time of the deer season I would see one on my deer lease. But nothing yet. I only have thanksgiving to hunt on my lease than I wonít have time to travel. So Iím gearing up to try out SHNF for a hog. Any tips will be appreciated.

Hunt afternoons

Find some FRESH hog activity along a major creek and set up shop till pig 30 (30 minutes before sunset) and blast whatever comes by.

If that spot doesnt work then repeat in a new spot the next night.

Eventually you will bag some piggies.

I went 2 hogs in 3 trips doing that last winter.

Good luck!

I was squirrel hunting around Neblett's Creek in the Sam today and saw a lot of fresh hog sign... rooting, trails, and a whole lot of turds. Please go kill some.

pigs are nomadic. here today gone tomorrow. Sorry I cant give you my honey holes you will have to figure yours out on your own. But like I said earlier you are going to have to do some walking and scouting to find them. Find a major creek and walk it. Or find a pipeline and walk it. Either way you should be able to find where the pigs are traveling. Time and effort will put pigs on the ground.

That's the hunter's camp on big woods rd. It's near the headwaters of the East Fork of San Jacinto so the pigs move in and out of the area regularly. It's a large chunk of forest there with plenty of access roads

Just from my experience:

- With the huge population of hogs, you can often find tracks pretty quickly when scouting and setup for the evening or early morning for when they come by again.

- During times when there's little to no rain for an amount of time (several weeks at least), I've found them near and in creek bottoms where there's some water left.

- During mid-day, I've found them bedding in thick brush with lots of shade. (When I say "found", I mean spooked them and they would jump right out within 10 yards of me).
If you're walking through, and encounter a thick foul odor (sort of like sweaty socks) they're very close.
