Saturday morning Cisco Tx started off 28 degrees with 0 wind(thank you) . just knew something good was going to step out. been at the popup blind since 5am and nothing moving around me. getting around 10am and a Doe crosses a gas line cut going up a mesa @120yards. Right behind it comes a 10 point trailing the doe. the doe never stopped moving and the 10 point stopped long enough to look over his shoulder. got scope on the ten and decided "yes" this is the ONE! by the time I got down on his shoulder crease he went behind a tree and all I could see in the scope was from his liver to his butt. (didn't take the shot). then out of no where I see another buck stepping into my crosshairs. It was a pretty good 8 point. again by the time I had the crosshairs on his shoulder crease he was just stepping behind the same tree the ten did . But I had that extra 1 sec to make the shot & I did..

It was very time compressed scenario: if I would have had 1-2 sec more it would have been the 10 being ground checked . It could have worked out many different ways. The 8 point is no slouch either and I am happy with him.

my game came was running at this time and caught 3 images:

image#1 - 10 point trailing doe

image#2 - 10 point looking over his shoulder looking at 8 point trailing him

image#3 - 8 point getting ready to disappear behind same tree the 10 point walked behind. Look at the shoulder crease and you can see the .257 Roberts round impacting the deer.

image#4 - 8 point picture cropped and blown up at the moment of impact

Congratulations! When you get a chance post those 8 pt. photos? .257 Roberts is an excellent deer caliber. The first deer I shot, around 35 years ago, was with a pre-64 Model 70 in .257 Roberts.

Need to open up the sendero around the feeder so you have more time.
