Beautiful weekend in paradise and I finally got around to winterizing the water system. Not a moment too soon either. It was 0F Saturday night and the lake is icing over fast. I had to break ice to get to the pump disconnect which is in about 5 feet of water and was pretty numb by the time I was finished. Might have left it a tad late this year:
This is my favorite time of year to bow hunt as the food sources and water options become limited and patterning the deer gets an order of magnitude easier.

That is a piece of heaven. Can you walk on that lake in the dead of winter?
Can do a whole lot more than walk. Drive the one-ton, snow mobile, atv etc... Last year the ice peaked at about 30 inches. For reference the US Army Corp indicates that 25 inches of good ice will carry a 45 ton loaded tractor trailer safely and once you reach 36 inches you can put a 100 ton machine on the ice. Once it hits 10 inches of good ice it is safe for every vehicle that I own.

Whilst I am glad that our winters dont look like that, I bet your summers are wonderful! Great pic
